About Safari Doodles
When buying a puppy from Safari Doodles, you are not just buying a random dog with potentially disastrous and expensive health problems. Temperament as well as genetic health screening is an important part of our protocol and helps us provide you with the healthiest pups possible. Unlike puppy mills, shelter dogs, or some backyard/hobby breeders, Safari Doodles’ dams and sires undergo rigorous temperament and health testing prior to being bred. Because we are also professional dog trainers, we at Safari Doodles run a battery of temperament tests on our dams and sires. We want to make sure that those energetic, sweet, lovable traits desired in doodles gets passed on to our pups.
At Safari Doodles, we also DNA test our dams and sires to ensure that you are taking home the genetically healthiest puppy possible. Our DNA health testing includes OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) for elbow and hip dysplasia to unsure your pup won’t be passed this genetic malady and suffer the hardships and pain of underdeveloped or misshapen hips and elbows which could interfere with quality of life, OFA for heart to ensure a properly developed heart, ei. suffering from heart valve issues (varying levels of heart murmurs, etc) and so this genetic trait won’t be passed your pup, and CERF (Canine Eye Registration Foundation) for eye diseases which could eventually lead to blindness and also be genetically passed to your pup. Safari Doodles strives to provide the genetically healthiest pups we possibly can.
Coat is a major factor at Safari Doodles. We strive to breed doodles with the best coats possible. The name doodle does not guarantee shed-less as some breeders will lead you to believe. As with our temperament testing and genetic health testing, our dogs are screened for coat quality too. Yes, you can purchase a pup for less than the $1800 we charge, but with a Safari Doodle puppy, you know you are getting quality.
