About Safari Doodles
Safari Doodles operates through three private family homes in McKinney, Aubrey, and Flower Mound, Texas. Our parent dogs and puppies are raised as part of everyday family life while remaining connected through one coordinated breeding program. Families may meet different members of the Safari Doodles team depending on the litter and pickup location, while Danise continues to lead the program and oversee puppy placement and sales.
Safari Doodles began breeding purebred dogs in the mid 1980s. The Doodle experience began between 2004 and 2007, and Safari Doodles began producing Doodle puppies in 2009.
Over the years, Safari Doodles has developed carefully selected breeding families focused on health, temperament, structure, genetic diversity, and predictable traits. Many of the dogs in the current program descend from dogs Danise has personally owned, raised, evaluated, and bred over multiple generations.
Decades of Breeding Experience
Breeding is about much more than pairing two cute dogs. Danise has spent decades studying how health, temperament, structure, pedigree, genetics, and family history influence the puppies produced from each breeding.
That long term perspective is especially important in a breeding program because one health test or DNA panel can only provide part of the picture. Following dogs, their relatives, and their offspring across generations provides additional information that can help guide future breeding decisions.
Safari Doodles has OFA health testing records associated with dogs used in the breeding program going back more than 20 years.
Health Testing and Responsible Breeding Decisions
Safari Doodles uses OFA health testing and DNA testing appropriate for the breeds involved in each breeding program.
Depending on the breed and individual dog, testing may include evaluations for hips, elbows, cardiac health, eyes, patellas, and breed relevant inherited conditions. Danise also considers pedigree information, relatedness, structure, temperament, previous offspring, and family health history when making breeding decisions.
The goal is not simply to produce puppies that look a certain way. The goal is to make thoughtful breeding decisions that support long term health, sound temperament, and quality of life.
Cavapoos, Goldendoodles, and Havapoos
Today, Safari Doodles focuses primarily on Cavapoos and Goldendoodles.
Each breeding program is approached individually because the breeds involved have different health concerns, temperaments, coat traits, sizes, and genetic backgrounds. Danise places particular importance on knowing the dogs behind each pedigree and understanding how traits are carried through a family line.
Many Safari Doodles parent dogs are part of Safari Doodles’ multigenerational breeding families, allowing Danise to make decisions using information gathered over many years rather than relying only on a single generation.
Temperament Matters
Temperament is one of the most important parts of the Safari Doodles breeding program.
Danise evaluates parent dogs for qualities such as confidence, sociability, adaptability, trainability, affection, and overall stability. Puppies are also observed as they develop so families can be guided toward a puppy whose personality and energy level are a good fit for their household.
Safari Doodles does not believe every puppy is the right puppy for every family. Careful puppy matching is an important part of the process.
Experience With Service Dogs
Safari Doodles has also been involved with puppies selected and raised for service dog work, including diabetic alert dog prospects. Safari Doodles dogs have worked with professional trainers and service dog programs, giving Danise additional experience evaluating qualities such as focus, confidence, trainability, resilience, and willingness to work with people.
Not every puppy is intended for service work, but those experiences have helped shape the way Safari Doodles evaluates temperament throughout the breeding program.
A Breeder Who Knows Her Dogs
One of the differences at Safari Doodles is that Danise knows the dogs behind the puppies. She has lived with the puppies’ parents, grandparents, and great grandparents for many generations. Danise knows details of generations of personalities and health testing.
That kind of long term knowledge cannot be replaced by simply purchasing two dogs and breeding them together. Safari Doodles has been built over many years through careful selection, continued health testing, record keeping, and evaluation of each generation.
Serving Families in Texas and Beyond
Safari Doodles is located in North Texas and works with families throughout the Dallas area, across Texas, and throughout the United States. Families are encouraged to learn about the parent dogs, review health testing, ask questions, and understand the breeding program before choosing a puppy.
Danise believes informed families make better decisions, and she works closely with puppy families to help them understand temperament, expected size, coat traits, health testing, and what to expect as their puppy develops.
The Safari Doodles Philosophy
Safari Doodles is built around experience, transparency, health testing, and thoughtful breeding.
Danise’s goal is to continue improving each generation while preserving the qualities families value most in companion dogs: stable temperament, good health, trainability, affection, and the ability to fit comfortably into family life.
After decades of breeding dogs, Danise continues to approach each breeding as an individual decision based on the dogs involved, their families, their health information, and what that pairing may contribute to the next generation.
