Safari Doodles is a North Texas family breeding program specializing in Mini Goldendoodles and Cavapoos. Our breeding experience began with purebred dogs in the mid 1980s, and Safari Doodles began producing Doodle puppies in 2009.
Today our parent dogs and puppies are raised in private family homes in McKinney, Aubrey, and Flower Mound, Texas, all as part of one coordinated Safari Doodles breeding program. Danise leads Safari Doodles and oversees sales, puppy placement, and the overall breeding program.

Rather than relying only on labels such as Mini, we encourage families to look at the actual size of both parents and the sizes produced in previous generations when that information is available.
For Plano families comparing puppies, this is particularly important. Two breeders may both advertise a puppy as a Mini Goldendoodle while producing dogs that mature at very different sizes.

Health Testing Matters More Than a Breeder Saying the Parents Are Healthy
A veterinarian examining a healthy adult dog is not the same thing as a breeding dog completing appropriate health testing.
Safari Doodles parent dogs receive OFA health testing and breed relevant DNA screening before breeding.
Depending on the breed and individual dog, testing may include OFA hips, elbows, cardiac evaluation, ophthalmologist eye examinations, patellas, and DNA testing for relevant inherited conditions. We believe health testing should be verifiable.
Our parent profiles include links to public OFA records and DNA information whenever available. Dogs owned and used in the Safari Doodles breeding program have more than 20 years of documented OFA health testing history.
That history also gives us information about families of dogs rather than evaluating each new parent in isolation.
Why Generations of Dogs Matter
A breeding program becomes more predictable when the breeder knows the dogs behind the current parents. Many of Safari Doodles’ current parent dogs descend from families we have worked with for generations.
That means our decisions can include information about temperament, structure, size, coat, health testing, and characteristics observed in parents, grandparents, and other relatives. This is very different from purchasing two unrelated breeding dogs and knowing only what appears on their individual test results.
Genetic diversity remains important, but so does knowing the family history behind the dogs being bred.
How Safari Doodles Puppies Are Raised
Safari Doodles puppies are raised in private family homes rather than in a large kennel environment. From birth, puppies receive daily handling and age appropriate developmental experiences. As our Doodle puppies grow, they are gradually introduced to household activity, people, other dogs, sounds, toys, different surfaces, outdoor environments, and new experiences.
We also begin early recall and potty training. Young puppies learn to use a designated potty area when they are in their playpen while also being encouraged to potty outside whenever possible. Our goal is to give puppies a strong foundation before they leave for their new homes.

Temperament Matching Is an Important Part of Choosing a Puppy
A beautiful puppy is not necessarily the right puppy for every household.
Some puppies are naturally more confident. Others are softer and more sensitive. Some are highly people focused, while others may be more independent or adventurous. Safari Doodles spends every day with each litter and watches those differences develop.
At about seven weeks of age, we also use the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test as one additional source of temperament information. We combine temperament testing with our observations from raising the puppies from birth.
Danise works with families to understand what they are looking for and helps guide them toward puppies whose temperament and energy level may fit their home.
