How to Reserve a Safari Doodles Puppy
Safari Doodles offers Cavapoo and Mini Goldendoodle puppies to families in Texas and throughout the United States.
Our goal is not simply to help families find a puppy. We spend weeks getting to know each litter so we can help families consider temperament, energy level, expected size, coat, and personality when choosing their puppy.
Safari Doodles is a family breeding program serving North Texas through private family homes in McKinney, Aubrey, and Flower Mound. Depending on the litter, puppy pickup may take place at different Safari Doodles family locations. Danise leads the program and coordinates sales and puppy placement.
Step 1: Complete the Puppy Application
The first step is completing our Puppy Application.
The application helps us learn about your household, lifestyle, children, other pets, activity level, puppy preferences, and what you are looking for in a companion.
After reviewing your application, Safari Doodles will contact you by email, phone, or text.

Step 2: Choose the Type of Puppy You Are Looking For
Safari Doodles currently raises:
Cavapoos
Our Cavapoos are produced from Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Miniature or Moyen Poodles. Adult size varies according to the parents used for each litter.

Safari Doodles raises Mini Goldendoodles using Golden Retriever, Goldendoodle, Miniature Poodle, and Moyen Poodle family lines depending on the generation and planned breeding.

Step 3: Join the Safari Doodles Puppy List
After your application has been reviewed and we determine that a Safari Doodles puppy may be a good fit for your family, you may place a $500 puppy deposit.
The deposit is applied toward the purchase price of your puppy.
Deposits are nonrefundable, but may be transferred to a future Safari Doodles litter if the right puppy is not available in the litter you originally considered.
How Our Litter and Pick Order Works
Safari Doodles uses a master deposit list.
When puppies are born, families on our list receive information about available litters. You may tell us which litter you are interested in.
Pick order within a litter is generally based on the seniority of deposits among the families requesting that litter.
You do not have to accept a puppy simply because a litter becomes available. If the litter or available puppies are not the right fit for your family, your deposit may remain on the list for a future litter.
This allows families to wait for the puppy that best matches what they are looking for rather than feeling pressured to choose from the first available litter.
How We Help Families Choose a Puppy
We spend every day with our puppies from birth until they go home. During those weeks, we observe differences in temperament, energy level, confidence, sociability, sensitivity, play style, human focus, and response to new experiences.
At about seven weeks of age, we also use the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test as one additional source of temperament information.
Temperament testing is considered together with our observations from raising and living with each puppy. This information helps us guide families toward puppies whose personalities and energy levels may fit their household and lifestyle.
When Do Families Choose Their Puppy?
Puppy selection takes place on puppy’s go home date.
Safari Doodles puppies generally go home at approximately 8 weeks of age, depending on the individual litter and puppy. Families choose their puppy in person according to their established pick order. Safari Doodles assists by helping educate about the puppies’ temperaments and personalities.
How Much Does a Safari Doodles Puppy Cost?
Safari Doodles puppies are generally $3,500, regardless of sex, color, or variety, unless a specific puppy is listed at a different price on our Available Puppies page.
A $500 deposit is applied toward the purchase price.
The remaining balance is due according to the terms provided for your puppy and litter.
Health Testing Our Parent Dogs
Safari Doodles parent dogs receive OFA health testing and DNA screening appropriate for their breed and breeding role.
Testing may include:
• OFA Hip evaluation
• OFA Elbow evaluation
• OFA Cardiac evaluation
• OFA CAER Ophthalmologist eye examination
• OFA Patella evaluation
• Breed relevant DNA testing
We believe health testing should be transparent. We provide parent details include links to public OFA records and DNA information.
Safari Doodles has documented OFA health testing records on dogs owned and used in our program spanning more than 20 years. Dogs behind some of our earliest Doodle litters were born as early as 2004 and were owned and health tested by Safari Doodles before becoming parents in our breeding program. Safari Doodles began producing Doodle puppies in 2009. Many of the Doodle, Golden Retriever and Poodle parents today are the descendants of these dogs.
How Safari Doodles Puppies Are Raised
Safari Doodles puppies are raised in a home environment with daily handling and age appropriate socialization. As puppies develop, they are gradually introduced to people, other dogs, household activity, sounds, toys, different surfaces, outdoor environments, and new experiences.
We begin early recall training, potty training, and age appropriate puppy training before puppies leave for their new homes. Puppies are also introduced to a playpen setup with a designated potty area. Outdoor potty training remains the primary goal.
Our goal is to give puppies a strong foundation that makes their transition into their new homes easier.

How Long Is the Wait for a Puppy?
Wait time varies considerably.
Some families may find an available puppy or litter quickly. Families looking for a very specific sex, color, size, coat type, parent combination, or temperament may need to wait longer.
Because litter size, sex, and individual puppy traits cannot be guaranteed before puppies are born, we encourage families to remain flexible when possible.

Why Safari Doodles?
Our breeding experience began with purebred dogs in the mid 1980s.
Dogs behind some of our earliest Doodle litters were born as early as 2004 and were owned and OFA health tested by Safari Doodles before becoming parents in our breeding program. Safari Doodles began producing Doodle puppies in 2009.
Today our breeding program combines decades of experience with documented OFA health testing, DNA testing, knowledge of our family lines, genetic diversity, temperament evaluation, and thoughtful puppy matching. Many of our current parent dogs descend from families we have worked with for generations.
